Catharsis is a self-published edition born from a desire to encapsulate within a book an obsessive and daily drawing practice. A true purifying act, the practice of drawing allows for the expiation of states of mind, the exorcism of moods, and a return to the Self. The A5 format edition comprises 192 pages of drawings taken from sketchbooks, created between 2020 and 2023. A first edition dedicated to these drawings was published in 2019 by Goswell Road, a self-managed artistic space in Paris.
It emerges from a desire to share these new daily drawings in a book with a mysterious, almost occult graphic design. This project is supported by the Occitanie region, with the grant "support for the creation of an artist's book" obtained in 2023. The project has a strong local grounding; the graphic design is carried out by Laura Zanti, a graphic designer from Toulouse. The edition is offset printed at Art & Caractère, the first private sector printing house to be evaluated for its social and environmental responsibility approach and to have obtained the "committed CSR" label.
